Meoantolin’s work is so good that whenever I feel the need to salvage a bad work day, I just chose to review his work, and then sit back and relax.
So how does he do it? We don’t really know much about the enigma that is Meoantolin. We could only hope to take a closer look at what he does.
A (functioning) walking contradiction
Meo’s fortitude is unparalleled. He has been tested time and again by life; so much so that he now lives by these words: Trust on everyone. Rely on no one. Depend on yourself. However, he has that rare mixture of pragmatism and romanticism. It’s understandable, but instead of becoming bitter, he still sees the beauty of being human, and manages to make the most of what he can do, and oh boy, this man can do A LOT. Just like his friend Tanya, he has a self-imposed daily word count requirement. He also dabbles in the
study of the human psyche and maintains his hubpages domain, and the most amazing of all - he also makes
beautiful music. He already wrote two songs!
Steady as he goes
Meo never misses a deadline. His work ethics is incredible. When he says that he is going to complete a project within a specific timeframe, he will - all obstacles be damned. He is reliable to a fault – he would work even when isn’t feeling too well.
We only wish he'd cut himself some slack every once in a while.
Living more than a little
Meo claims that he lives only a little, but you only need to listen to his covers to know that is too passionate for that. He even went cliff-diving last February. If that's not what living, I don't know what is. He does not have a lot of friends but what he lacks in number-of-friends, me makes up for in the connection he has with the friends he does have. In the words of one such friend “He is the kind of friend that would laugh at your ridiculous jokes.” Meo also dreams of one day riding a lawnmower. He dotes on his pup, Bradley.
Communication
Whenever he feels unsure about project details, he sends us a message. He also does not wait until the last minute to let us know that a project may be delayed – the only problem is, his submissions are NEVER delayed. When an emergency comes up, he also never fails to let us know. He is one of the very few writers we do not need a follow-up message from.
Helping yourself before forcing others to do it for you
As a newbie, it was obvious that he had read the manual thoroughly. He sometimes asks a ton of questions before claiming a set – and all of them are good questions i.e. not something that could be answered by google, or by reading the manual.
God is in the details
Meo wants the littlest details in his work to be perfect. One time, he sent me and Sir Nelson a message, panicking over forgetting to include one heading in a table of contents. Of course, Sir Nelson promptly told him not to worry about it because it’s just a minor issue, but it shows how he continues to scrutinize his work even after submission.
The rest about Meoantolin is not my story to tell. You can pester him about it, but the better option is probably to just leave him alone and hear him sing. You might know him a little better after, you might not. But you’re better off knowing that you just listened to a soul you aren’t going to find anywhere else.
I leave you with words of wisdom from Meo:
"Do not wait for a revision request before asking questions."
"Hindi mo mapapatunayan ang pagiging cute mo sa pagiging last-commenter."
"Make ways, not excuses."
"Always remember that what you can learn from reading -- you can learn in real life better."
"Always focus on what the client wants. Sometimes, it doesn't matter if it's factual or if you believe in it. You are paid to WRITE, not to preach truth."
"Mag claim din ng FAs every once in a while -- dagdag pogi points din yan."
